In the process of setting up a new quantum optics theory group, I am searching for outstanding PhD students to work on the following topics
- Quantum simulation with quantum optics setups, in particular of lattice gauge theories
- Design of protocols for measuring entanglement in cold quantum gases
- Theory of quantum many-body systems (non-equilibrium dynamics, periodically driven systems, exotic quantum phases, characterization through entanglement)

Our ambition is to realize a world wide quantum internet, connecting
few qubit quantum processors using long distance quantum communication
links. In 2020, we aim to have the first demonstration network
connecting several cities in the Netherlands. We are now looking for an
exceptional PhD candidate to join us in this endeavour.

The Quantum Information Science group at the University of Warwick is seeking a PhD student starting October 2017 in the area of quantum enhanced imaging. This is a theoretical project funded by QUANTIC (UK National Quantum Technology Hub in Quantum Enhanced Imaging). By exploring possibilities of modifying source and/or detector characteristics, the project aims to design microscopy schemes with resolution not limited by Rayleigh’s criterion.
