The third AQuA Student Congress on Quantum Information and Computation will take place from the 30th August-1st September 2013 at Imperial College London.

This event directly follows the QuICC summer school and provides a unique opportunity for graduate students to present their current research through a short presentation or a poster. This allows students to meet their peers and learn about their research whilst gaining valuable experience showcasing their work in a relaxed environment.

We are pleased to invite postgraduate researchers, from inside and outside the UK, to exchange ideas on the mathematical aspects of relativistic quantum physics. A special focus will be given to relativistic quantum information, a relatively young field which combines techniques from quantum field theory, quantum gravity, quantum information and quantum optics.

Our invited speakers reflect the diversity of areas covered:

Prof. Bob Coecke (Oxford)
Dr. Ivette Fuentes (Nottingham)
Dr. Etera Livine (Lyon)
Prof. Tim Ralph (Brisbane)

The ONNA 2013 workshop will be held at OIST Graduate University (http://www.oist.jp) from 1-7th June 2013. The aim of the workshop is to bring together experts and early stage researchers, from diverse communities, who use optical micro and nanofibers or waveguides for their research needs, whether it be for quantum, biological or other applications. The number of participants is limited and will be based on application. Full financial support (air ticket, accommodation at Seaside House, OIST and meals) available.

The Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw invites applications for research fellowships and research professorships in photonics and quantum science. The eight positions to be filled are funded from the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme project PhoQuS@UW: Fostering Excellence in Photonics and Quantum Science which aims at expanding experimental and theoretical research in widely defined optics and quantum physics including quantum optics and quantum information, ultrafast optics, atto-science, photonics, biophotonics, plasmonics, and related areas of research.

The study of thermalization has become an especially hot topic of research in the past several years, and there are multiple advanced workshops on the subject. However, these have been aimed at experts in the field. There is a clear need for an instructional program targeted at educating junior researchers across the disciplines including statistical mechanics, hard and soft condensed-matter physics, biophysics, nuclear physics, string theory, and quantum information theory.
