The group of model-based engineering in the Computer Science Department at the University of Siegen (Germany) is offering a PhD position in quantum software engineering, focusing on the development of novel testing techniques for quantum software.

The position is part of the project entitled “Optimized Quantum Software Testing using Functional Property Specifications and Quantum State Verification Techniques” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The project is a collaboration with Otfried Gühne (Theoretical Quantum Optics, University of Siegen) and is part of the upcoming priority program 2514 on Quantum Software, Algorithms and Systems. The research goals of the project include:
  • Behavioral property specification for testing quantum programs,
  • Efficient and effective testing techniques for quantum programs,
  • Quantum state verification techniques for testing quantum programs,
  • Handling noise in quantum program testing
Applicants are expected to have:
  • M. Sc. with very good grade in computer science, physics, mathematics or something equivalent,
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills,
  • Very good programming skills, preferably in Java or Python
