Relativistic Quantum Information
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to work with Dr Ivette Fuentes on an EPSRC funded project on the overlap of quantum information theory and relativity. The research is aiming at exploiting relativistic effects to improve quantum information tasks and finding applications of quantum information to foundational questions in gravity. With the new project "Robust Quantum Information and Metrology" at Macquarie University we have two PhD scholarships to fill. In Australia a PhD is normally 3-4 years in duration and there is no coursework. The scholarships cover the university fees, and provide an annual stipend of about $23,000, with some support for relocation. <!--break--> We have just purchased a new TESLA Personal Supercomputer, with more computing power than the world's most powerful computer in 2000.

Within the frame of a new Joint European Research Project we have a job opening for one PhD Student or Post Doctoral Researcher on scalable high-precision ion traps for optical clock metrology. The goal of this project is to assemble and characterize a high-end ion trap suitable for clock-spectroscopy of ionic crystals with a fractional frequency inaccuracy as low as 10^-18.
