The Quantum Nanophotonics Lab of Dr. Paul Barclay at the Institute for Quantum Science and Technology, the National Institute for Nanotechnology, and the University of Calgary is inviting applications for postdoctoral scholar positions in quantum nanophotonics and optomechanics. Successful applicants will lead experiments utilizing nanophotonic and nanomechanical devices to manipulate quantum systems, develop quantum light sources, and demonstrate nanoscale sensors.

Application deadline:

Sunday, September 14, 2014

Applications are invited for a 2-3 years long postdoctoral position to work with Dr. Andrzej Dragan on the interdisciplinary field of relativistic quantum information. The research is aiming at exploiting relativity to improve quantum information tasks and studying quantum information protocols in the presence of gravity. Candidates must be motivated, confident and creative. They must have a PhD in physics and experience with quantum theory and relativity. Knowledge of quantum information and quantum optics is also desirable.

The school is part of the activities of the Marie Curie Training Network PICQUE (www.picque.eu) devoted to the development of integrated optics as a platform for quantum science and technology. The workshop will be a precious opportunity for researcher within and outside the consortium to present their latest results, and hear about the new ideas in the field. The three-day schedule will see talks from top-level international keynote and invited speakers, as well as contributed talks and posters.

One Ph.D. position is available in the theoretical quantum optics group at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. The research of the group focuses on the implementation of quantum information processing in a wide range of systems, ranging from quantum optical systems such as atoms and photons to solid state systems. The research especially focuses on coherent interfaces between light and matter. In addition we have a smaller program on ultra cold atoms.

The conference is organized in collaboration with the Abdus Salam Internationel Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP, Trieste, Italy) and the COST action MP1006

Application deadline:

Postdoctoral Fellow in Experimental Quantum Photonics
The position is in the research group of Weibo Gao located at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and will be involved in one of our project based on solid state system. We aim to study experimental quantum photonics based on quantum dots, SiC defect systems, and rare earth ions. We welcome students with different experimental background, including photons or atoms or solid state systems.

We are pleased to announce the availability of a PhD position in the group of Ultracold Mixtures at the University of Nottingham to be filled asap. We have recently created a large BEC of lithium-2 molecules and are currently working on adding cesium atoms and the creation of an additional cesium BEC. LiCs molecules are extremely interesting candidates for the study of groundstate molecules since these molecules have the largest dipole moment among all available alkali-combinations.
