The Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at the Medical University of Vienna (head:
Prof. Wolfgang Drexler, Vienna) in collaboration with the Institute for Integrated Circuits at the
Johannes Kepler University Linz (head: Prof. Robert Wille, Linz) is seeking for a Postdoc in the area of
quantum computing.
The Soft and Complex Materials Lab at IST Austria is looking for an exceptional experimental postdoc. The successful candidate will design and build a sophisticated optical tweezers system to study the physics of tribocharging at the single charge level. Experience with optics, automation, and LabView is highly sought, but any exceptional candidate with a strong experimental background will be considered. The duration of the project will be two years with the possibility of extension.
In this three year PhD position optimisation problems will be tackled with Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) computing. The candidate will share time between the research center of Total SA in Saclay on the outskirts of Paris, France and an academic lab.
Prior experience with quantum computing is crucial, candidates not matching the profile will not be considered. The following profile is desired

We invite you to the next QWorld seminar. During this QWebinar, Maria Schuld will talk about different aspects of “variational quantum machine learning algorithms”, including their role in the development of near-term quantum technologies, their interpretation as a cross-breed of neural networks and support vector machines, and strategies of fitting the quantum model to data. As a practical implementation, she will show how to use the open-source software framework “PennyLane” to integrate quantum circuits with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch and Tensorflow.
