We cordially invite you to submit a paper presenting the results of original research in the area of quantum computing at the Quantum Computing Thematic Track in conjunction to be held in conjunction with the International Conference on Computational Science, June 16-18, 2021, Kraków, Poland.
Quantum computing is a new paradigm that exploits fundamental principles of quantum mechanics to solve problems in various fields of science that are beyond possibilities of classical computing infrastructures. Despite the increasing activity in both theoretical research and hardware implementations, reaching the state of useful quantum supremacy is still an open question. This workshop aims to provide a forum for computational scientists, software developers, computer scientists, physicists and quantum hardware providers to understand and discuss research on current problems in quantum informatics.

The University of California at Davis is expanding its presence in quantum computing and quantum information, and also in theoretical computer science otherwise. The UC Davis CS department has two faculty opening this year, one in quantum computing, and one in CS theory including quantum computing. The web pages to apply for these positions are listed below. The initial deadline for the positions for full consideration is December 15, 2020, while the final deadline is January 20, 2021.
Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher to work with Peter Bierhorst at the University of New Orleans located in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. The duties of the postdoctoral researcher will be to perform research drawn from the fields of quantum information, quantum nonlocality, and/or applications to device-independent quantum information protocols. While this position is in the mathematics department, applications are welcomed from students and researchers with backgrounds in physics, computer science, or other related fields.

We offer a 3.5-years PhD position for a motivated researcher to join our work on adaptive quantum sensing. Our goal is to develop an automatic quantum sensor, based on a single spin in diamond, enhanced by machine learning algorithms. The sensor will automatically optimize its settings to operate in conditions of maximum sensitivity, minimizing the estimation times.

We offer a 3.5-years PhD position for a motivated researcher to join our work on spin qubits in silicon carbide (SiC). Colour centres in SiC have recently be shown to uniquely combine excellent spin properties with ultrastable optical transitions for spin-photon interfacing. Our goal is to exploit the technological properties of this semiconductor, with established growth, doping and fabrication, to develop quantum devices to build building blocks for the future Quantum Internet.

A Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available in the area of quantum technologies, supported by an Innovate UK project Assurance for Quantum Random Number Generators. This project is a major collaboration with several industrial partners. The School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU) invites applications for a prestigious Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Quantum Computing. SFU is the host university of the Quantum Algorithms Institute, which is an interdisciplinary, multi-university initiative with an initial investment of $17M committed by the Province of British Columbia. In addition, Vancouver is the home of multiple leading quantum companies such as D-Wave and 1Qbit.
