We have an opening for two 27-month Ph. D. student positions in foundations of quantum mechanics / quantum information theory at the University of Gdańsk, Poland with starting date 1st October 2018.
The position will be financed under the project “Quantum correlations – from few to many particles” founded by the Polish National Science Center under BEETHOVEN programme.
Scope of research for the project include:
STOCKHOLM UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
We are searching for a talented and motivated PhD student who is interested in experimental quantum optics and quantum information with trapped ions. The research will focus on the investigation of trapped strontium Rydberg ions.
Trapped Rydberg ions are a novel system for quantum technologies. By laser light, the ions’ outermost electrons are excited to high-lying orbitals. Such Rydberg ions are million times bigger than ions in the ground state, and due to their size, they obtain very peculiar properties.
We are establishing a new research institute headed by Martin Kliesch on quantum computing and related topics, see www.tuhh.de/quantum.
SUMMARY
We are seeking applicants for experimental PhD positions to work in the area of circuit QED based quantum simulations at the University of Technology Sydney under the supervision of Dr Nathan Langford. Please register interest by emailing nathan.langford@uts.edu.au. Positions will remain open until filled.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Circuit QED Quantum Science group is a new experimental research group in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), led by Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow, Nathan Langford. A/Prof Langford has recently set up a new research direction for UTS in circuit quantum electrodynamics (circuit QED), establishing the brand new Millikelvin Quantum Science laboratory at UTS with state-of-the-art purpose-built facilities for experiments in circuit QED and microwave quantum optics.
The quantum group at the University of Malta is recruiting a tenure track lecturer!
We are a young theoretical quantum physics group working on the lovely island of Malta. We are based in the Department of Physics at the University of Malta, a vibrant research-led department with active interests in the quantum world, applications of electromagnetism, and astrophysics and cosmology. The work of our group spans the fields of quantum optics, including quantum optomechanics and quantum information, and quantum thermodynamics.

Applications are invited for HARDIMAN PhD Scholarships at the National University of Ireland, Galway: Research areas of interest include quantum walks, quantum games and general quantum algorithms. For initial enquiries, please email michael.mcgettrick@nuigalway.ie
The “QCAT” Research Group carries out interdisciplinary studies at the border of quantum optics and condensed matter. Our goal is discovering inspiring physical phenomena, investigating the capabilities of modern platforms and finding their potential applications in quantum technologies. The Group has a theoretical background but tightly collaborates with experimentalists. Our domain comprises systems built with integrated optical circuits and superconducting photon detectors, optical microcavities and two-dimensional nanomaterials (e.g. graphene).
The Department of Physics at the University of Siegen invites applications for a
Junior professorship (W1) for theoretical quantum optics
with tenure-track option for a permanent professorship (W2)
