Postdoctoral position in Experimental Quantum Information - NIST and QUEST group@UMass Lowell
Submitted by
entangler on Fri, 04/01/2019 - 21:09.
Quantum Engineering Science and Technology (QUEST) group at University of Massachusetts, Lowell and the National Institute of Standards & Technology are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to start as soon as possible. Superconducting circuits represent a very promising platform for actualizing quantum information processors. This postdoctoral research opportunity will involve design, fabrication and characterization of superconducting qubit systems. The primary focus of the research will be stabilizing entangled quantum states of multiple superconducting qubits.
The primary location of this work will be at the NIST facility in Boulder, Colorado. NIST has been active in developing superconducting qubits in all aspects of quantum information for over a decade. Dr. Raymond Simmonds will be the primary advisor of the work carried out at NIST.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- PhD in Physics, Engineering, or Computer Sciences obtained before the start date of the position
- Experience with microfabrication of superconducting circuits and circuit-QED architectures
- Experience with dispersive readout, basic theoretical modelling, data analysis and fitting, along with programming microwave equipment is highly encouraged
Special Instructions to applicants:
- Please include a detailed CV, cover letter, list of publications, and brief statement of research interests. Names and contact information for at least two references will be required at the time of application. All application materials must be forwarded to
Dr. Archana Kamal (Archana_Kamal@uml.edu) and Dr. Raymond Simmonds (raymond.simmonds@nist.gov).
- This position is available to both domestic and international candidates. This is a two-year position with the possibility of an extension for another two years contingent upon funding and successful performance.
- Initial review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
