The Light-Matter Interactions Unit (https://groups.oist.jp/light) in OIST, headed by Prof Síle Nic Chormaic, invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar or staff scientist position in the unit. The focus will be on one of the experimental areas within the group such as (i) WGM resonators for nonlinear optics or optomechanics, (ii) complex beam profiles, optical trapping, and fibre-based imaging, or (iii) cold atoms and nanofibres for quantum networks.

There is a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher on “Experimental Quantum Information with Trapped Strontium Rydberg Ions” at Stockholm University. We are searching for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in experimental quantum optics and quantum information with trapped ions. The research will focus on the investigation of trapped strontium Rydberg ions, which is a novel approach for quantum information processing. It joins the high level of quantum control of trapped ions and the strong dipolar interaction between Rydberg atoms.

The new round of Anne McLaren Fellowships (for women in science) and Nottingham Research Fellowships (for all candidates) at the University of Nottingham is now open. The Fellowships are open to outstanding early career researchers with up to 8 years of postdoctoral experience. The Fellowships offer a three year competitive salary, with a link to a permanent academic position at the end of the project (subject to performance).

Prof. Alexandr S. Holevo has been awarded by IEEE Information Theory Society with the Claude E. Shannon Award for year 2016. Prof. Holevo works at the Stekhlov Mathematical Institute in Moscow (Russia). He is one of pioneers of quantum information theory and has made substantial contribution in the areas of mathematical foundations of quantum theory, quantum statistics and quantum information theory.
