We are pleased to announce the workshop "Quantum resources: from mathematical foundations to operational characterisation", to take place in Singapore from 26th to 29th April 2021.

The workshop is concerned with the theoretical investigation of quantum resources, and in particular on bridging the gap between the abstract mathematical description of resource theories and the protocols for their practical exploitation.

Application deadline:

QuSoft is looking for a PhD candidate for developing and analyzing new quantum algorithms for inherently quantum problems. This position is part of Maris Ozols VIDI project "Mathematics of Quantum Algorithms", funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The goal of this project is to develop quantum algorithms for problems where both the input and output are quantum states as opposed to classical bit strings.

The Masterclass is aimed at graduate students and postdocs interested in learning about entropic quantities and their use in Shannon theory, cryptography and quantum information processing. It will include minicourses by experts in these fields and additional lectures by both local and external speakers. There will also be significant opportunities for direct interaction. The primary aim is to expose a broad audience to the latest research on some of the most important open problems in this field.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative student for a fully-funded PhD position in Dublin, on the quantum thermodynamics of flows of light in the strong-coupling regime. The successful candidate will create theories and simulations of the thermodynamic properties of polariton gases, and use them to develop novel concepts for thermodynamic machines that use light as the working medium.

Application deadline:

In the Theory of Cold Atoms group of Prof. Uwe R. Fischer at Seoul National University, two Postdoc positions are open in the field of quantum simulations of curved spacetimes (aka analogue gravity). Previous experience in the latter field and its implementations in various systems is required, such as in ultracold dilute quantum gases, ion traps, polariton condensates etc., and is to be documented in published form.

Application deadline:

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

We are offering a funded three year postdoctoral position to a highly motivated and well-qualified researcher who intends to work in the field of quantum thermodynamics. The successful candidate will work as part of the research group led by Jens Eisert at the FU Berlin. For an overview of research activities of the group, see
