Professorship or Assistant Professorship in Quantum Physics, Institut Polytechnique de Paris
Widely internationalized and committed to excellence in research,
education, and innovation, École polytechnique is seeking a full-time
Assistant Professor or Professor in Quantum Physics. As part of the
Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), École polytechnique offers a
vibrant academic environment where interdisciplinary collaboration
thrives. The successful candidate will join the Physics Department and
contribute to IP Paris’s strategic initiative to expand its expertise in
quantum sciences and technologies, with a strong connection to the
Quantum Saclay Center, a collaborative platform with Université Paris
Saclay.
Candidates must hold a PhD in quantum physics and demonstrate an
international research profile through high-level publications or
patents. They should present an original research project aligned with
IP Paris’s scientific strategy and be prepared to establish their
research activity within one of the physics laboratories at the research
center. The ideal candidate will showcase a broad culture in quantum
sciences, strong interdisciplinary research capabilities, and the
ability to play a leading role in the scientific animation of the
quantum science community, working closely with IP Paris laboratories
and industry partners.
Teaching responsibilities include contributing to all academic levels
(Bachelor, Polytechnique Engineering Cycle, and Master’s programs) with
a focus on delivering both fundamental and specialized courses. The
candidate must demonstrate excellent teaching skills, contribute to
project-based learning, and strengthen the links between teaching,
research, and applications. Applications are open until March 31 via the
École Polytechnique Calliope* website. Required documents include a CV,
a teaching project, a research project, and contact information for
three referees (including international references). Interested
candidates are encouraged to reach out to Silke Biermann, Christoph
Kopper, Cédric Lorcé, Luca Perfetti, or Laurent Sanchez-Palencia for
more information regarding teaching duties, research opportunities, and
the Quantum Saclay Centre.
The selected candidate will be able to join one of the IPP research
groups. Candidates interested in joining the PhiQus group, working at
the intersection between Physics and Computer Science
(https://team.inria.fr/phiqus/), are encouraged to contact Filippo
Vicentini or myself (Marc-Olivier Renou) as soon as possible
